I Identify With The Turkey

…Yes, I know what it feels like, to have someone stick their hand up my butt, rip all my necessary organs out, and replace them with stuffing and God only knows what else.

I may actually start posting here more than once a month. I think I’ll try coming back to this “online” thing again, at least for a while. See how it works out. Hopefully soon I can start providing some help to the Fedora Documentation Project, which strives to create much-needed documentation for the Fedora operating system, published by Red Hat. As soon as I can get some things done there, I’ll actually have something to work on, rather than just spend my time in front of the computer slacking off.

The Board of Smartness has come back online. It’s not in its polished state, but it’s functional, running the latest IPB, and there’s a grand total of 32 posts. It’s an excellent time to join, as this is when we get our initial userbase, as well as shape the board. Join us!

BOS Shutdown

I have made the decision to completely shut down the Board of Smartness. Why do that, you might say? Well, the name “Board of Smartness” comes from my stupidity, because it was created as a competition with a similar board, named the Board of Dumbness, which has since gone offline. Therefore, I already had a limitation built-in to the system: I was using someone else’s system. It never really took off; at its peak, I had under 40 users. Ever since I graduated from high school, the usership of the Board has declined. Lately, I have been able to stay off of it for a month at a time, and still have no new posts. That was exactly what caused me to shut down the Board for now, until I can create a more viable alternative.

So what’s next for the board? Well, I’m not exactly sure. Most likely, a brand-new copy will be installed with a new theme(s?), a brand-new database, and absolutely no data held over from any other incarnation of the Board. Most likely, I won’t be completely done until after the first of the year; however, I may open a new version before then. Just depends on how busy my two jobs and school keep me.

The domain will most likely stay the same (http://forum.mattfast1.com/). I’ll let you know if that changes through these changes.
