Right, so I figured out why mine phone bills are so high.
It’s because Sprint decided to put the $8/mo text messaging plan on my account, which only includes 500 messages. My overages in the month of July were 1634 messages, which resulted in a $163.40 charge on my bill. So now, after about a month after I notice this, and after several emails to Sprint’s Customer Service department, I have finally managed to have that amount credited back to my account. However, I didn’t get my credits back until AFTER they shut off my phone for a day, so they don’t have a happy customer.
If they don’t improve, I’m gonna tell them where they can shove my discount, and I’ll go get a better carrier. Y’know, one of those who actually CARE about the people who throw money at them every month.

You may have noticed some intermittant downtime on the mattfast1.com site.
This isn’t my fault.
Seems Dreamhost’s network is cracking at the seams as they try to integrate two different datacenters (in the same building), cope with LA’s power grid and the Garland Building’s backup systems which break every time they’re needed, and then their core router starts developing problems which may mean an $80,000 replacement needing installation.
Not a great month for Dreamhost, especially the last week.
It’s nice to know that we’re not the only ones having problems. It seems Myspace has its datacenter in the same building, so they’ve been having to deal with the same kinds of problems. They pulled the plug on all their servers after the last power outage, because there was no cooling system in the building and servers like cooling. A lot.
If you have any problems accessing my site, or Myspace, check with http://www.dreamhoststatus.com - that is the off-network status site for Dreamhost, which may help you figure out what’s going on. I’m on baht, if you care.
