…I shoulda brought a mouse…

Right, so the forums are online again.

I’m still trying to figure out why they broke, turns out it was .htaccess’s fault.

Whatever.

Now, I’m painfully going through each forum that I haven’t been to in forever and posting.

That’s why I shoulda brought a mouse…

*crash* *tinkle* *tinkle*

Right, so I’m on the way to school tonight in the middle of a snowstorm, and this Volvo in front of me decides he’s gonna stomp on his brakes. Since I can’t stop that fast, I bump into the back of his car.

True, it was only at 15mph. However, you may remember 20 days ago, when Sho was in an accident; you may also remember back to last year when Sho got a stopping ticket, then as soon as I get into a car, I get a speeding ticket worth the same amount of monies and points. So, it seems I’m cursed.

….what time is it now?….

Hier kommt die Schnee!*

That’s right, it’s currently snowing in our fair state of Colorado. Just in time to watch the Denver Broncos win their first Superbowl seat in the past 6 years, ever since Mr. Elway retired and began selling cars.

In other news, I’ve finally started my investigation into the server the forums are hosted on, along with the rest of my domains that are endlessly redirecting. The fact that several seemingly random domains are redirected, and the others aren’t, tells me that it’s nothing I did to the codes. Therefore, I have to wait for the support team to do something about it. I’m gonna get back to work on this after work today.

Anyway, that’s my cue to exit. I’ll be back after work.
*for the German-impaired among us: Here comes the Snow!

Light His Fire

So, I’m going through my spam folder this morning, and I see the following subject:

 ”Light His Fire”

Now, I may be wrong, but that just seems like they’re not even bothering to do any research before they send out their spamminess…

*grasps stomach, stumbles around*

Urrrgggghhh.

So, I’m at work yesterday, and I’m not feeling very well. About 10 minutes to closing, I start tossing cookies. Not fun.

I was up most of last night puking and puking and puking. Forgive me if I’m kinda out of it.

I guess I’m not the only one getting annoyed now.

Yeah, you’ve seen most of these promises before…

I know I said I’d take a look at the boards today, but I’ve been kinda busy, what with working and hanging out with Sho for an indeterminate amount of time.

So, now I’m kinda tired. If I get a chance, I’ll look at them tomorrow. Otherwise, it’ll be sometime eventually. Perhaps I’ll take this opportunity to do a couple things I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time now: add the galleries and blog into the mix.

Just don’t hold your breath. I’m a busy man.

Right, so the boards are broken. I get it.

So apparently, according to the comemnts I got on my last post, the Board of Smartness is broken.

This is a feature, not a bug.

I joke.

Seriously, it seems my host has been moving some sites around due to a couple hard drive failures in a few of their servers, and this site was one of the affected. Everything else seems to be working correctly, so if we’re all patient, it’ll get fixed. Believe me, there’s nothing in the new configuration that would cause problems, since I restored the old files and that didn’t fix it. Therefore, it cannot be something I did last night.

I’m gonna go to bed now, get a good night’s sleep, and take a look at all my code tomorrow with fresh eyes. Hopefully then I’ll be able to verify it wasn’t a fat-fingered mistake by me; but rather, a fat-fingered mistake by someone haunting Dreamhost. If that’s the case, I’ll put in a support ticket tomorrow; otherwise, I’ll fix it and post about how I’m an idiot.

Spambots Beware: Matt got a hunting license…

As anyone who runs a site with any kind of exposure (especially if they offer comment forms) knows, once you get the exposure you get the spambots by the thousands. Now, although I am running Spam Karma 2 (with the Akismet plugin) on my Wordpress install, which does cut down on the spambot visits (no point sending them to a site that won’t take their crap), I needed a more… bulletproof… solution.

Therefore, I an instituting a new policy on links: If a site appears in my logs without having a link to me, I will immediately and permanently ban them from all areas of my site. What does that mean for you? Well, it means server performence may suffer slightly as it tries to determine if you’re coming from a site that’s known bad. Every referral that comes from one of these sites will be sent back to where ever they came from. No warnings. Either have a link on your site, or don’t send your spambots to me.

And no, damnit, I’m not blocking LiveJournal. Well, not yet at least.

The hell?!?!?!?!?!?

Right, so I got a call on my answering machine today from one of my teachers, who told me I got dropped from his class by the school. So I go on their website, and it turns out they’d dropped all of my classes for next semester.

Not only that, but when I try to re-register for all of my classes and tell them that I’ve got a loan processing, one of my classes is completely full. So now I don’t know what I’m going to do.
