Yar.
I was coming home from work tonight, and I figured since the cheapest gas I knew of in town was at a Diamond Shamrock on Broadway, I’d just take I-25 north to Broadway, and head south.
Of course, up that way, Broadway only goes north.
So I end up lost, driving around in the “bad neighborhood”, at 9:30.
Not a good thing.
Finally, after finding the Capital building, I got onto Colfax.
A place I obviously know very well.
Har.
Finally, I find an exit to Southbound I-25. That’s when I figure out I’ve been lost way more north than I thought, because when I went around a bend in the road, I was suddenly bedazzled by the lights of Invesco Field at Mile High.
Then, of course, some asshat had decided TREX-related work needed to be done, which required the interstate be shut down between Santa Fe and Hampden.
So, suddenly, I’m driving in a lane that doesn’t exist at the time, going “OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!” as I slam on the brakes, taking my speed from 85 (I think….
) down to 35.
That was a slightly fast speed decrease, as that happened in about 15 feet.
Dang.
So finally, I manage to get on Santa Fe heading south.
That was a good thing.
Then I was speeding through downtown Littleton, an area I know well since my school is there.
Then, I get to Windemere and see gas for $2.83.
That’s when I pull my second very quick speed decrease of the night
The point of the story being, I found out I’m getting about forty miles to the gallon driving like a maniac.
Let the mania continue!
