So, since you’re reading this, you’ve found the new incarnation of my blog.
Good for you.

Right… so, I just did a random whois search for mindspring.com… and it came back as registered to Earthlink. Earthlink, as it turns out, has two name servers which are assigned to this entry.
Their names?
ITCHY.EARTHLINK.COM
SCRATCHY.EARTHLINK.COM
Ain’t that just the funniest thing you’ve ever seen? It’s certainly better than my NS1.SIMPLEHOST.COM, NS2.SIMPLEHOST.COM entries.
This morning, I implemented another feature of Wordpress that I found useful, and at the same time, cleaned up my blogroll.

I installed the new Tiger theme for Wordpress. No, don’t go looking for any changes on the actual site. The Tiger theme is for spicing up the backend of Wordpress.
Now, I’ve always thought the Wordpress backend was a little dull. I mean, it’s all done in gray. No variation in colors, not even any pictures. Just gray. The Tiger theme is based off of the skin of MacOS 10.3 Tiger. Already, it’s much more usable than it’s default brother. For one, I like categories. Whenever I find more than ten posts in a category, I generally start thinking of ways to subcategorize each of those posts creatively. However, the default style only shows about 15 on a page. However, there’s no scroll box for the categories in the Tiger theme, it just creates a list down the side. Finally, scrolling on my own terms, rather than what one of the Wordpress volunteers wants. Not that I’m putting the Wordpress developers down, they do a great job.
A HUGE thanks to Steve Smith over at Ordered List for this great theme. I look forward to new and exciting designs from him.
Oh, yeah: If you’re reading this, are running Wordpress to manage your blog, and you haven’t installed this theme, I HIGHLY suggest you visit the official site of the Tiger theme.
My computer is running slowly right now. How slowly, you might say? Let’s just say, it’s taken almost five minutes to get to my post page. Why is that, you might say? Because I’m working on Lauren’s computer. Yes, I’ve finally gotten around to taking a look at Lauren’s computer, and I found that I needed to reinstall Windows. However, that wasn’t nearly as hard as it is when running something like Windows 98. I’ve done that install enough, I could probably key it in my sleep… backwards and upside down.
Anyway, it’s kind of confusing, having two mice right next to each other. I keep grabbing the wrong mouse, resulting in several molestation charges against my hand. Annnnyyyyyywwwwwaaaayyyyyy…….. I got her computer up to a semi-workable state, and now it’s just a question of reinstalling every program that used to be there… and keeping the spyware, malware and virusware off of it. I’ve already limited all software installation to a very specific set of privleges. Now, the problem is keeping everyone using their own accounts… and keeping Windows behaving.
Currently, I’m trying to secure my hosting and domain… when I actually get it, my web site will probably be moving to the domain mattfast1.us…why that domain? Because it’s cheaper than a dot com, that’s why. Actually, since I get a free domain everywhere I’m looking, I’ll probably just go ahead and get the dot com name. So that would mean my home page (the one that currently just re-directs to this blog) will be www.mattfast1.com, this blog would be blog.mattfast1.com, and the Board of Smartness would be forum.mattfast1.com. Sure, there would be various other services hosted, and the home page would reflect that, possibly. Or I may just use those other services as a backend, included in the other main pages. Anyway, I’m just rambling about a possible site structure, that hasn’t been fully thought through.
How is it that when you have a Windows XP computer, it suddenly thinks all it’s hardware doesn’t exist?
And why is it that I’m posing this question? I’m supposed to be the expert!
Oh well, looks like I’ll have to rebuild the Windows installation. It’ll be fun, let me tell you.
A dog in Lakewood, Colorado saved an alleged “freaking moron” from a fire this morning after he left a candle burning in his garage.
Sadie the dog awoke in the night to the smell of smoke, and awakened her master by jumping onto the bed and barking, after which the man awoke and hustled his wife and kids out of the house. Sadie was also saved, but due to this accused moron, the family’s cat and another dog were killed.

It’s things like this that make me weep for the state of the human race. Just how stupid do you have to be to leave a candle burning in your garage overnight?
Oh, and if Sadie the Dog were really as smart as the news agencies here in Denver are giving her credit for, she would have just found the need to pee… right on top of that candle… before it lit the house on fire. That would be something worth cheering her for. In this case, the dog was just looking after her own hide: She would have been killed if she didn’t get out of that house.
Well, I’ve had the last two days off from work, and I have the next two off as well. It’s nice.
I get paid on Friday. Hopefully, with some of that money, I will be able to purchase some hosting of my own.
I will keep you posted on the status of my blog’s future, along with the entire line of my services. I will still have this space, so everything is going to forward over to my new domain, whenever I get it.
Wow… my blogroll looks a lot less populated since I switched all the WP devolopers over to their own category. However, that will be changing soon, because I still haven’t added in all of my friends from LiveJournal and other sources… so it will be better soon, OK guys? Your links should appear in the next few days…
I’m test-driving a new theme that I just installed. Please, comment on this post and let me know what you think of it.
Oh, yeah: I have removed my work calendar from this theme, as it takes so long to load. However, you can still donate to me, because I’m just such a generous guy that I kept that feature in there. All right, so it’s partly about the money… or at least, the potential for money…
